FAQ – Parties
How many party hosts will be at my party?
We typically schedule a minimum of 3 party hosts for all parties up to 10 girls and then add an additional host for each 4 girls thereafter. Our party hosts are trained to lead the party, do all the hair styles, nails and crafts, lead conversations with the guests and make sure you are happy with your event. They are professional, polite and your guests will most definitely want to come back to Dooz to say “Hi!”.
Do I need to bring anything?
For sure bring your camera! We have had parents bring matches and candle(s) if they have ordered cupcakes or special family birthday plates if they order pizza. If you provide your own cake during the after party at your table setting please do bring a knife, we do not have a cake knife on site. Other than that, no – you do not need to bring anything else to the event.
What is included in each party?
Every Dooz Party includes: Party Hosts, Use of our Party Pods, Birthday Banner to take home, Hairstyling, Nails, Themed Craft, Reusable Goodie Bag and Goodies ($12.95 value) plus setup and clean up of your event. You get to enjoy the whole thing and leave the details to us.
Can the girls choose their own hairstyles?
You can certainly choose one hairstyle for your party. In our experience if we do a different hairstyle on every girl – occasionally girl #3 – will look at girl #7 and wish she had her hair the same way…this can cause hard feelings. So, in an effort to make everyone feel included and special and part of the group we do the same hairstyle (barring a short hairstyle that prevents us for making them identical). They can express their creative choices in their nail color and their crafts. Trust us on this one…after more than 700 birthday parties we’ve got this one down.
What if a guest of mine has special needs?
At Dooz we have experience with all kinds of kids, even those with special needs. If you give us the heads up in the notes section of your booking form we will make sure to accommodate your guests and ensure they have a great time.
What if I need to change the date of my party?
Since we order supplies and schedule your party hosts 2 weeks before your event we hope that you don’t change the date. That said, we completely understand that things like illness and emergencies happen. If you must move the date of your event for whatever reason we kindly ask that you do it within 5 days of your event. Changes or cancellations within 4 days may require a security deposit to reschedule.
Can I cancel my party?
Like we said above, we completely understand that illness and emergencies happen. If you could kindly notify us 5 days or more before your event we would be very grateful! That might allow another child to celebrate on that day – who knows! Cancellations within 4 days of your event might result in a cancellation fee.
How early should we arrive for our party?
We are a very timely bunch in the Party Pods. If you could arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of your party to check in and get the 411 from your lead party host – you will enjoy the party that much more. We suggest parking in the lot between JCPenny and Macy’s then entering through the Mall entrance through the green archway. Turn left once you get into the Mall and head up the main elevators…easy breezy.
Do parents stay during the party?
The host parents always stay during the event, most parents drop off their kids and we will advise an estimated pick up time. We ask that parents write down their cell phones and their child’s name on our sign in sheet in the event that there is an emergency. Occasionally we do have parties where everyone is having so much fun – the guest’s parents don’t leave. This can get a bit squished for the kids and (dare we say) stressful for you, the host parents. You don’t get a chance to capture the memories or cute moments if you feel you have to entertain and chat with the other parents. We encourage you (we’ll help at the party) to let your guest’s parents know that this is a drop-off event and we will make sure their child is supervised while they are at Dooz.
Do siblings attend parties too?
Sure, we often have a wide range of ages attending a party. Our party hosts are masters at making everyone feel included and excited about the party. Please include siblings in your guest count to ensure we have enough supplies and staff to accommodate them.
Can boys come to a Dooz party?
Yes! We have alternate crafts to offer boys and they love our colored hairspray and custom glitter tattoos in place of hair updo’s and nails.
Will the salon be open [cutting hair] during my party?
Yes. Unless you have booked a private event where we shut down the salon operations; we will be cutting hair during your party. Typically this is not an issue because you are in the party area and everyone is focused on your event.
Will there be another party in the other party area during my party?
Occasionally we will have two parties that overlap – our party prize wall separates the areas so you will not see or be involved with another party. We schedule the parties so that when one party is starting the other party is almost finished. We also schedule a 30-minute buffer after each party is cleaned up to make sure there is not an overlap inside a party pod. This reduces a huge crowd waiting for their party to begin.
Do I need to tip the party hosts?
That is completely up to you. We do not specify gratuity for our party hosts in the party charges. It is not obligatory.
If I have a question or concern during the party who do I ask?
You can talk to your lead party host. She will be the one who introduces herself to you and let’s you know the agenda for your party. She will be able to answer all of your questions and if she can’t she will find the someone who does.
What if our guests are unable to come at the last minute?
We completely understand that there will be last minute emergencies and illness. If you have to change your guest count at the last minute – we will adjust the price of your event. We do, however have a minimum party fee of $185 not including the add-ons you choose to customize your party. This will remain in effect so if you have less than 5 guests in addition to the birthday girl – the minimum party fee will be required.
Are we allowed to bring additional guests?
We love to be prepared at Dooz. That is why we check in for a last minute confirmation and headcount the week of your party. We do, understand that there can be situations where you have some additional surprise faces at your party. We can accommodate up to 3 unplanned guests based on our staffing and supplies for each party. You will be responsible to pay for the additional charges for these guests. Any more than 3 will have to be taken on a case-by-case basis.
